Serenity in horror – interview with Viscera Drip

viscera5

Adalbert: Do you feel that Viscera Drip is a part of American scene which has some unique features, differnt from the European or Latin American? Or, in the age of the internet such divisions are useless, and you consider your music as a part of some bigger universal entity? I asked this quesiton, because I see, that you collaborate with the artist from all over the world (even Poland – the case of Cold Therapy), and your record company is Hungarian.

I can’t really tell if the American scene is that unique or not. I can hear certain styles that are different depending on the region it was created in, but I think that means very little. The internet has opened up so many amazing opportunities for electroninc musicians to collaborate that divisions truly are useless. So many great people of the world, so much talent to be found in every corner of the world. I really believe that this type of music does much better everywhere but America. America is very behind when it comes to music, among other things. American culture is very dumbed down and repetitive, and I wish that it did not force it’s influence everywhere else.

Adalbert: Any chance to see your project live (except America)?

Justin: Time will tell. It’s really all about how to make it happen and that takes money. Something I really don’t have! So my best suggestion is to buy the cds and merch so I can save it up and hope to see you soon!

Adalbert: And the last final question: any good new American horrors that you would like to recommend to our readers?

Justin: That’s kind of funny, since most everything I have seen lately that was any good came from overseas. As far as books are concerned however, I highly recommend reading new books from the authors: Edward Lee, Shane McKenzie, and Jack Ketchum. And if you have not read the great horror author, Richard Laymon (RIP), you should!

Thank you for all the wonderful questions, I hope to talk again soon!
