Gorthaur's Biography
Gorthaur comes from Klodzko and Nowa Ruda in Silesia (South-Western Poland). Its music can be described as gothic rock with electronic influences. It’s one of the most experienced polish gothic acts – they exist since 1995. Their first demo was recorded in 1996, however it was their next demo, “Święte kłamstwa” (Polish for “Holy lies”), published in 2002, which became the real turning point of their career.
In 2004 their first album “New Better Existence” was published, and it made Gorthaur famous among the Polish fans of dark independent music. The album was later re-issued by Halotan Records. At this point the band consisted of Darek Dec (voc), Marcin Rzeczycki (bass, guitars) and Krzysztof Witos (keys, samples). This line-up remains unchanged until 2011 when Mariusz Dec joins Gorthaur as another guitar player.
In the same year Gourtaur published their long awaited second album called “Seasons”. It’s without any doubt the most mature work of the band. Every detail is on its place, every song fits to the general concept of this album. “Seasons” became Gorthaur’s opus magnum, widely acclaimed among the listeners of dark independent music.
